Cole is also excited about this t-ball adventure. He's taking a break from baseball this season and for the first time will be on the sideline cheering - such a great lesson for him about encouraging his sibling from the stands. Michael has also given him the task of team videographer and to help keep track of stats during each game (if you know Cole, this is PERFECT). He wants to give tennis a try...anxious to get started soon.
What makes this t-ball season even more sweet is the team of coaches for our Perkins Pirates. Andrew Finney (a dear friend and head coach) approached Michael and asked if he would be an assistant coach along with Nate Dooley. Michael jumped at the chance and we couldn't be more thrilled. Such a great group of godly men sharing their afternoons with these little 4 and 5 year olds - extremely grateful.
The first few practices have been hilarious. For the majority of the players (all but 1 or 2), this is their first t-ball experience. Let the laughter begin. Kiddos running from home plate to the pitcher's mound, building sandcastles, kicking dirt, and slinging bats in all directions...yep, hilarious. Coach Finney has made it very clear that our main goal is to have FUN - they are teaching the basics to prepare for coach pitch down the road, but I'm so glad that he's given these newbie parents the freedom to just enjoy their kiddos being little. The serious stuff comes soon enough...
