Naming Blessings

As a way to celebrate the Thanksgiving season, we made a blessing tree as a visual daily reminder of the good gifts God has bestowed on our family. Every night, around the dinner table, we let Cole name something he's thankful for and we write it on leaves that I precut with punched holes. We then tie it to branches (found along with pinecones in the empty lot across the street) and talk about all the wonderful things we are blessed to have, see, and know.

It's spurred great conversation and I'm amazed at what Cole understands at such a young age about gratitude, blessings, and being content. He also has a heart for children in need - especially the children of Haiti which are in our thoughts and prayers often. He can't wait to see the playground equipment his offering each week is helping to provide for Christmas at our orphan village in Jeremie, Haiti. Love his tender spirit.
A few of my favorites he's added to the tree are the first two things he mentioned - God's love and God's Word. You have much to teach us sweet boy!

Continuing to learn the true meaning of a grateful heart. . .
