Friends and Fireworks

To celebrate Independence Day, we hosted our first ever 4th of July (on July 3rd) cookout at our home.  This was a whim and was definitely spur of the moment planning.  I sent an email to a few friends and luckily some of them still didn't have plans :)  They headed over to our house Friday evening for some burgers and dogs, a little Cornhole, and then off to the H'ville firework display afterwards.  Although there were just a few of us, we had a blast (no pun intended) and enjoyed being together.

As for the fireworks, both Michael and I were apprehensive to how Cole would react this year.  He was not a fan of them last year (the noise scared him silly!), but we were hoping that he would enjoy all the colors and sparkles.  He did do better this year, but still isn't a huge firework fan.  The beginning and the finale still scared him because of all the noise, but he enjoyed watching them once they slowed down during the show.  He talked about all the colors and shimmer, but would get scared every once in a while when a large one would explode overhead...not from the noise, but from thinking that it was going to fall on him!  He would hide his eyes and say..."no mommy, hide eyes!"  As we were leaving, he talked non-stop about the fireworks...he said he wanted to watch them again :)  What a funny boy!

Here's a brief slideshow of our fun evening.  Kudos go out to the hubby for taking such excellent firework pictures and to Kyle for coaching us towards the perfect camera setting.  Happy 4th!

Glad you guys had a good time and Cole did so well. You guys should have joined us in the new LC.tv parking lot for LifeSTOCK and to watch. There were all kinds of goodies for kids. Maybe next year:)
